With the winter months coming among us, I thought I would share my current skincare routine. During this time of the year, my skin starts to get drier; so I have to switch a few things up. Can’t be out here looking crusty…lol. Check out below to see the products I tend to keep in my staples!
Cleanse: When washing my face I use either the Boscia Clear Complexion wash or the Kate Somerville Goat Milk Cleansing Wash. Both of these work very well for my skin type (combination/dry). Neither are too harsh for my skin, plus the Boscia is a Clean at Sephora Product!
Exfoliate: This step is literally my favorite part. I’ve been loving the Teami Blends Green Tea Facial Scrub. This stuff is literally magical. I’m very picky on exfoliating skin products because some can be so harsh on the skin. This doesn’t irritate my skin at all and does a really good job at removing any dead skin on my face. I also sometimes will grab the OLEHENRIKSEN Transforming Walnut Scrub. I know what you are thinking Walnut?!?! There’s been a lot of talks that Walnut is actually too harsh for the skin; but this product is the opposite. I swear by this and my boyfriend actually loves it too. Sometimes I catch him sneaking this and using it for his face as well…lol.
Toner: For toner the product that is my holygrail is the Thayers Alcohol-Free Witch Hazel Facial Toner. This toner is formulated with aloe vera, and with hazel to help sooth and naturally cleanse the skin. It’s not harsh, nor is it drying. I use this product day and night after I cleanse my skin.
Oil: I always use a facial oil before I apply my moisturizer. This helps keep my skin better moisturized during the winter months. I am in love with The Melanated Bar Facial Serum w/Rosehip Seed Oil. This product is something I literally live by. I was given her products to try out and I swear by this. Sometimes I will just put this on at night and wake up the next day with soft and moisturized skin. You should definitely check out her products. They are bomb!
Moisturize: Now for moisturizing my skin, I have to use a product that is more a cream than a gel. Cream moisturizers work way better on my skin during the winter, because it moisturizes my skin way better. Whenever I use a gel moisturizer, it mostly just sits on top of my skin; which doesn’t benefit my skin at all. The moisturizer that gets me through the winter season is the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream. This moisturizer actually soaks into my skin rather than sitting on top. It leaves my skin very moisturized throughout my day. They actually have a gel version as well that’s more lightweight for combination/oily skin types. I would recommend that if you have that skintype.
Mask: There are a couple of masks that I use in rotation. The first being the LANEIGE Water Sleeping Mask. Once I apply this I feel a cooling sensation and it leaves a tacky feeling once dried. But I’m telling you when it’s rinsed off, my skin feels so soft! It works wonders at moisturizing the skin. The next mask I like to use is the Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Hydrating Mask. This mask contains avocado and swiss glacier water. Plus it’s also a Clean At Sephora Product! It does very good at moisturizing the skin as well. I definitely recommend it for winter months.
