Today we are talking about Black Owned Beauty Brands. Recently I have come across some brands that I think need more recognition. There have been so many times I’ve used a brand that didn’t really compliment my skin tone. A few of these brands I have tried, and they offer a range of skincare, and makeup products. Check them out below!
Mented Cosmetics
Mented Cosmetics is a Black Owned Beauty brand that was founded in 2017 by Amanda Johnson and KJ Miller. They have an array of makeup products, such as foundation sticks, setting powder, eyebrow pencils, and lip products. If you didn’t know they came up with them name from the word “PIGMENT”. Each product is to match your skin tone effortlessly. I have tried their foundation sticks and it is very easy to use and doesn’t feel heavy on the skin. I highly recommend that you try this brand. Their products are also vegan! They have grown so much and continue to create new products for their brand.
Beauty Bakerie
Beauty Bakerie is a makeup brand that was founded by Cashmere Nicole. It’s crazy to know that she built this brand while battling breast cancer. That speaks volumes in how she hustles. Her brand offers a full product line of skincare, and makeup; such as foundation, concealers, powders, and lip products. Each of her shades compliment the skin of black women. Did I mention each product is cruelty-free. This brand is highly recommended by numerous amounts of celebrities and Influencers. You should definitely check this brand out.
Range Beauty
Range Beauty (created by Alicia Scott), was created out of the need for more diverse shades and less toxic ingredients. The brand encourages you to express yourself, while still allowing your true skin to shine through. They have affordable products that still have quality ingredients. Each product is cruelty free and doesn’t contain any harmful ingredients. There products consist of foundation, face powder, and highlighters. I recently bought their dual eye/highlighter, translucent setting powder, and a sample of some shades for foundation. I can finally say I have found a shade that matches my skin tone perfectly without having to correct anything. Can’t wait to see what else this brand will bring.
The Melanated Bar
The Melanated Bar is one of my favorite Black Owned Beauty Brands that encourages women to prioritize their wellness by creating self-care routines. This brand was created by Paula Delores. I have previously worked with this brand before and I received their Rose Clay Mask, and their Facial Serum with Rose-hip. I recently have tried their Turmeric Face Scrub. The Facial Serum is my favorite! It leaves my face so soft and glowy. All of her products are all natural and I highly recommend them.
Nolaskinsentials
NolaSkinsentials is a skincare brand that was created when a realization occurred that a certain skin type was not being catered to. The creator Jane Ormon realized that it was hard finding products that were plant based for skin with melanin. This was when she decided to create a line of skincare that not only catered to melanin skin but also all skin types, and skin tones. Her line consists of face products, body, and she also carries products for men.
Black Girl Sunscreen
Black Girl Sunscreen was created as there was a need for sunscreen that catered to melanin women. The founder Shontay Lundy, created this brand in the year of 2016, and decided to make a natural non-white residue sunscreen for women of color. Black women get sunburns too. It is a weightless non-sticky melanin protecting SPF 30 sunscreen. The ingredients within this product provide a moisturizing blend of carrot seed, jojoba, and almond. This leaves the skin feeling nourished and protected. Not only do they carry sunscreen for adults, they also carry a product for kids as well.
Fenty Beauty
Now I know pretty much everyone has heard about Fenty Beauty By Rihanna. She was the first brand that came out with foundation that was in 50 shades! Yes you read that right, the hype for her brand was too real. Everyone wanted to try her products, and since she has launched she has launched other products as well. Her line features products such as, foundation, primer, blush, bronzers, and lip products. Many people rave about her products, and if you haven’t tried them yet; you definitely should.
Uoma Beauty
UOMA Beauty (pronounced OMA) means beauty and they believe that beauty starts the moment you decide to be yourself. It was founded by Sharon Chuter. Their mission is to exist to re-write the rules of inclusivity and diversity to create a world of beauty that is truly for all of us. They carry an assortment of foundation, powders, lip products, and etc. One thing that caught my eye about this brand is that they have foundation that is in 51 shades. You are bound to find the right shade for you with this brand.
Rosen Skincare
Rosen Skincare is a brand that caters to acne prone skin. The founder of this brand is Jamika Martin. She wanted to create a brand that had clean ingredients as well as provide real results. They understand the struggle that comes with acne, and finding a product that will actually work. On their site, you can actually take a quiz on the type of skin you have and they will provide some feedback on what products you should try. If you tend to struggle with acne, you should try this brand out.
Be TRANSCENDENT Skin
Be Transcendent Skin is a all natural plant based skincare created for your specific skin type. It’s for normal/dry/oily, or combination skin. No matter what skin type they pretty much have you covered. Their products are to improve your skins radiance, which will reveal healthier glowing bare skin. As of right now they have a Glowful Collection that features their Recharge Cleanser, Balance Toner, Day Moisturizer, and Realignment Night Serum. They also have a skin type quiz to see what type of skin type you may have.
I hope this article was helpful to anyone searching for any Black Owned Beauty Brands. Have you heard of these brands, if so what is your favorite product from them?
