4 Ways to Detox From Social Media

We all know that social media has a way to negatively affect our thoughts, emotions, and desires. It can cloud our vision, perspectives, and our views of reality. Social media can also enhance our insecurities. How many times have you been on social media and saw something that impacted you negatively. Sometimes social media can literally drain you; this is when you know it’s time for a detox. Let’s be real some may not be able to actually delete social media for good, but a good detox is a good resolution instead.

Avoid Checking Your Phone First Thing In The Morning

Not going to lie, I’m completely guilty of doing this. I have a habit of always picking up my phone once I wake up. I’m starting to realize that there is no need to check social media first thing in the morning. Use this time to get yourself ready for the day, or make your family and yourself some breakfast.

Invest in a Hobby Outside of Social Media

There are plenty of hobbies that you can invest in to take your mind off of social media. Whether it be drawing, music, sports, or spending time with loved ones. As long as it’s something that doesn’t require screen time, the goal is to detox from social media.

Plan Different Family Activities

Another great way to detox from social media is to plan some family activities. They can be some activities that you’ve all been wanting to do for awhile but haven’t been able to due to other reasons. Take advantage of this time and spend some quality time with your loved ones. You can visit the park, go to the aquarium, etc. Also remember to put that phone down while doing these activities with your family and live in the moment.

Delete Some Social Media Apps from your Phone

Go through your phone and identify which social media apps you spend the most time on. And I mean the apps that you spend almost all day on. Once you do this go ahead and delete that app from your phone. This will help with constantly going to check to see whats new with social media. Truth is you really aren’t missing out on anything. You can also limit the amount of time you are on a certain app. All you have to do is go to your settings in your phone and determine the amount of time you want to spend on a certain app. You will then receive a notification that you have reached the amount of time allotted for that app. See example below!

    Media is so invigorating! I have personally done most of these tips aside from manually deleting apps and I have found myself happier and in a better mental state when doing so ! Thank you for the reminder
